Bride bouquet of crochet flowers

When I started to plan my wedding, my first idea was to make pretty much everything by myself. First I thought to crocheted my whole dress (yes, I could see myself wearing a wedding crochet dress), however this idea stayed just in my dreams. rsrs

So, I decided to make my bride bouquet with crochet flowers. I read a lot of blogs about crochet, bouquets and, of course, about how to make a bouquet with crochet. Finally I found an easy pattern of bouquet and tchamram:

My bride bouquet crochet by myself !

Unfortunately  I don’t remember from where I have got this pattern, but I will try to explain you how to do it.

What did I use?

  • Crochet flowers – the quantity depends on the size of the styrofoam ball.
  • 1 styrofoam ball – I used one of 6” (15cm) diameter.
  • Barbecue sticks – for the bouquet cable
  • Double-face ribbon
  • Styrofoam glue
  • Large tape
  • Line and needle

Now, let’s start!

Step 1 – Make the flowers

Crochet 39 chains (1). Skip 4 ch and make *1 dc an 1 ch (2), skip a space – 1ch and repeat from * till end. This will give you 18 holes or spaces (3).

Make 3 ch and 1 dc. After that *3 ch and 2 dc. Repeat from * till end (4).

Now you will make the petals. Crochet 1 dc and into the first space, crochet 8 dc (5).

Into the second space, crochet *1 sc (6), this will give you 1 petal. After that, in the next space, crochet 9 dc (7). Repeat from* till end. In the end you make 9 petals.

Almost done! Roll the pedals that you made to create the flower shape (8). You should sew (with line and needle) at the base to make the flower very firm.

Once, you know how to make the flowers, let’s go to the Step  2:

With the flowers ready, glue them to the styrofoam base. This process takes time, because you need to wait until the glue gets dried. Be patient!

Do not cover the whole styrofoam with flowers. Remember that you need space for the base. Buque1

Three! Step 3:

For the base, I used the barbecue sticks. I put them together with a tape. With the sharped face, I sticked into the styrofoam and added glued between the styrofoam and the barbecue sticks. Here you also should wait until the glue gets dried.  If it does not work, you can tray other type of glue.

Step 4 and last step:

Here you will use the double-faced ribbon to cover the left side of the styrofoam. You can cover the barbecue sticks with the ribbon. I preferred to crochet a cover for the sticks and then do the finishing using the ribbon.

I hope I have been able to properly explain how to make a crocheted bouquet. 🙂

Stay tuned for more patterns and tutorials.

Have fun!!
